What is Educational Violence?

Educational Violence a pattern of abusive behaviours used by a person employed by an educational intuition to gain power and control over a parent or outside personnel in the context of school.  Educational Violence that parents can be victims of from principals and teachers can encompass various forms of abuse, including:

Social Abuse: Parents may be subjected to social abuse, where school authorities isolate them from their support networks, control their interactions, or monitor their activities. This behaviour aims to exert control over the parent's social and personal life, further exacerbating feelings of powerlessness and isolation.

Emotional or Psychological Abuse: Parents may experience emotional or psychological abuse in the form of threats, intimidation, isolation, or verbal abuse from school principals or teachers. This behaviour aims to undermine the parent's mental well-being and can have long-lasting effects on their self-esteem and emotional health.

Financial Abuse: School principals or teachers may engage in financial abuse by controlling or withholding financial resources from parents, preventing access to money, or forcing financial dependence. This can lead to economic hardship and exacerbate power imbalances in the parent-school dynamic. (Or charging for a full-time teacher aide and using the teacher aid for all students in the class)

Stalking and Harassment: In some cases, parents may experience stalking and harassment from school authorities, where they are repeatedly followed, watched, or contacted without their consent. This behaviour instils fear and intimidation, creating a hostile and unsafe environment for the parent.

Physical Abuse: This may involve instances where parents are subjected to physical harm or violence by school authorities, such as hitting, pushing, or causing bodily injury. While rare, such incidents can have severe consequences for the victim's physical well-being.
